The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer

I’ll shoot my dog and push my car off a cliff…if you’ll marry me!
The story goes that that’s the way that Dad proposed to Mom.
Everyone knew that Dad loved his car and his dog better than anything in the whole world. But when he proposed, Dad made sure that she knew he loved her better than anything! He’d sacrifice it all to marry her! "If I have to push ‘Old Blue’ off a cliff and shoot ‘Old Shep’ I will.."
Here they are leaning on the Lincoln about 1955.
Lovely.
Thank you, miss_cleopatra! There’s a set of these from their day trip to Biloxi, so I’llupload more later…
Lost_Fun_Zone…Thanks for making this a favorite!
Sounds like your Dad was very convincing. Nice story and photo.
He was a sweet talker, for sure. Thanks for adding this one as a favorite.
Didn’t people look happier back then?
You can see joy in their expressions, yes.
Thanks for adding this image to the Americans en Tableaux Black & White Pool.
You got it, Zack!
This is adorable, and so is the story.
Thanks, Jamie!
I remember seeing this one and some others at the apartment you and Terry had in Biloxi! Unforgettable… 🙂
That’s why I still have these! They survived the house fire because I had them down on the Coast with me!
What a lovely story!
Thanks, Hollie!
Please add this very cool shot to the Suburban Cool group.

This photo was used without my permission on a commercial website. They didn’t link back or give me credit for it!

What should I do about it?
That is terrible
They have a contact us link on the site. I would email them and ask them to please ask permission before using photos and to either link you or to take it down.
🙁

It’s your mom’s laughter and that fantastic hoodie that make this photo. It’s lovely, Patrick
Thanks, David! It’s one of my favorites of them.
I am so in love with her shirt!
What a great photo and wonderful story! You make me want to dig out my old family pictures and post them here.
